But then somehow we ended up stripping all the teak on the INSIDE of the head hatch - it was worn and waterstained with black ... i.e. mold. Now THAT was a challenge. But today it got worse! I stripped, sanded and varnished the other three frames AND the inside of two hatches. They all need at least 3 coats of varnish and you have to let it dry for 4 hours between coats & light sanding, so I'll get a couple more coats on tomorrow. Hopefully we'll get the other two hatches stripped, sanded & one coat of varnish on.... Thursday's weather forecast calls for rain, so this project will come to a screeching halt after tomorrow!
Oh, and just as a point of reference, stripping, sanding and revarnishing hatches was NOT on the refit list, but our canvas guy that was supposed to start yesterday is backed up from bad weather in Florida in mid-December, so hopefully that project will start later this week! Otherwise who knows what projects we can concoct!!! YIKES!
