The view from the summit of Acadia Mountain. We climbed both Acadia and Beech Mountain today ... not as arduous as climbing a mountain pass in Glacier Nat'l Park, but very fun nonetheless!

It's blueberry season and there are blueberries everywhere on Mt Desert Island, Maine. Here's one lonely little guy waiting for someone to plop him in their mouth and savor the sweet blueberry taste of REALLY fresh Maine blueberries! Even David likes them and he doesn't like blueberries! So far we've had Blueberry Spice Cake, Blueberry Pie and Blueberry ice cream ... not as much as lobster, but close .... very close!
Driving around on a dreary foggy rainy day, we found this wharf in Bass Harbor, Maine dedicated to three lobster fishing brothers that fished here for over 50 years and according to the plaque "epitomized the brave and gallant spirit of Maine's most resourceful fishermen".
Our hike today in Acadia National Park was to find loons. I've never seen or heard a loon in person and that was the quest. But we found unbelievably pretty water lilies, so I just had to take a few photos.
Wow, part of our trip East was to check out the coast and see if we'd ever want to sail Winterlude north again. Here's the first night from our Maine coastal adventure. Maine has lots of rocks and BIG tide swings. But it sure is beautiful!
Relaxing on a waterfront bench in Newport ... our friend Doug would say life is all in the timing.... FOUR, four, 4 .... 12 meter yachts came in to the dock in front of us - RIGHT in front of us... the 2nd boat in was Columbia ... David was thrilled. Columbia won the 1958 America's Cup ... I was 3 years old, but David was older... We both appreciated the beauty and grace of the boat! Wow!
Not sure I've ever seen so many wooden boats of all types in one place. Mystic, CT has a rich shipbuilding history and now they're restoring some amazing wooden whaling ships. There was even a shipbuilder named "Irons & Grinnell Shipyard" in the early 1850's. We're definitely going to have to do a bit of research on this topic! These are fishing vessels at the Mystic Seaport, which was definitely worth a visit.
Dinner at Abbott's Lobster in the Rough in Noank, CT tonight was about as good as it gets. Picnic table on the grass overlooking Mystic harbor, steamed seafood and bring your own drinks. Sunset was great, but the food was better!
