Photos of fungi seem popular today and since I'm busy getting ready for Thanksgiving, I don't have a photo
I don't know if it's the full moon or what but there are manatees everywhere in this marina. As I said, they're not photogenic, but there were over 20 yesterday and we watched 6 today in one slip including a mama and her baby. Very cool!
Birds seem to be a disproportionate percentage of the subject matter of the photo of the day, but it's just because they present themselves so frequently. We also had manatees by the dozen playing in the marina, but they're just not as photogenic.
Great Egret shows his fishing prowess in the giant old cypress swamp at the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary.
Kayaking yesterday we explored the tiny islands at the entrance to the Burnt Store channel - low tide made for interesting patterns in the sand.
While kayaking today, I tried like anything to get a good shot of a bunch of white pelicans hanging around the Burnt Store channel. Instead I found a "new" (to me) species of heron. When I looked it up, the book says it's a Tri-Colored Heron.
About the last thing I would have expected to see in the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary ... colorful maples and monarch butterflies!
Departing Pearl Harbor aboard the USS Peleliu on a "Tiger Cruise". I just finished an article with lots of photos about our experience being in the US Navy for 10 days ... click on the Tiger Cruise tab left to sail along with us!
