The tradition on BooBoo Hill on Warderick Wells is for cruisers to leave a piece of driftwood commemorating their visit to the Exuma Land & Sea Park. BooBoo Hill is named for the ships that hit the reef and sank just offshore. Legend has it that on a moonlit night you can hear the voices of the souls lost singing in the wind. And if you leave an offering to King Neptune on BooBoo Hill you'll be blessed with good luck on your voyages. Heaven knows we could use some luck, so of course, we found our piece of driftwood and continued the tradition!
Single file only -- Exuma Land & Sea Park is a Bahamian National Park -- but single file only. There's only a narrow band of deep enough water for boats, all on national park moorings. That's Winterlude, the dark hulled boat in the rear. Loved Warderick Wells -- be sure to check out the postings on commuterCRUISER.com!
