Happy St Patrick's Day! We hope you had more fun that we did!
We were very hopeful that we'd have our "fixing things in exotic places" challenge wrapped up before the dinghy poker run party fun started this afternoon, but it was not to be. It's now 5:30 and the saga continues.

Sunrise over Panther Key in the 10,000 Islands. Sunrise is not my time of day, so I don't see many of these & have to post the photo as proof that I actually do see them once in a while -- usually in conjunction with an oh-dark-thirty up anchor departure. Unfortunately JUST before this beautiful sunrise, our head quit.
Just quit, as in the pump locked up and refused to move. Rather than force it & break it for sure. We opted to wait until we were anchored later to figure it out. At this point we were pretty sure it was an air lock which has happened before & not a big deal.

Unfortunately, this beautiful sunset in Little Shark River was not the end of the saga. We discovered the old old hose was blocked & had caused the pump housing to crack which in turn created all kinds of other trauma.
We sailed to Marathon/Boot Key Harbor yesterday & spent today taking out the old sanitation hose and replacing it with a brand new one. Unfortunately our best efforts to fix the cracked pump housing so the head isn't leaking buckets hasn't resulted in any significant improvement. West Marine didn't have the part we need. But there's an entire pump housing that we can probably get by Tuesday afternoon & have the entire situation back in control again. We'd both prefer to replace the entire head, but the shipping costs are prohibitive if we want to get it this week -- like $150 shipping for a $316 head. So we may bandaid with a new pump for now & hopefully it'll last several more years.
In the meantime, it's time for a shower & to go out to dinner -- Thai sounds good & there's a Thai place right across the road from the marina. :) Enjoy your evening!
