Lots of Boats Ready to Go Somewhere ...

3/4/2013

Finally the wind subsided this afternoon and it actually was warm and sunny!  No more cold fronts for 36 hours, so all the boats anchored here are ready to be on the move starting tomorrow morning.  Several are headed south, one, maybe two headed north.  But everyone wants to get somewhere before the next cold front - it's supposed to be a doozy!   So we finished provisioning, readied the boat to leave if the weather continues to cooperate, and then went to Happy Hour at the recommended Sand Bar.

The Sand Bar is my new favorite dive sports bar.  We understand our other favorite in Marathon, by the Sombrero Marina is not open.   Makes me sad.  But the San Bar somewhat made up for it.  The view's not the same, but the food was good and not expensive.   I love the giant canning jar of dill pickles adorning every table -- crisp and perfectly tart or dill, whatever you call it.

Plus David discovered they have the Big Ten Network on one of their dozen or so TV's, he was instantly sold.  Next time we stop in Marco, I know where we're going.  It's only a short walk from the Rose Marina (the Factory Bay anchorage is close).   And $1 draft beers topped off the deal.  Happy Hour, you understand... from 3 PM until 6 PM.  Mostly locals and fishermen, not so many boaters or tourists, but fun.

Now the dinghy is on deck & we're all ready to go ... weather willing!   Stopping in the 10,000 Islands/Everglades to weather the next cold front on Wednesday.  Not sure about the internet/cell phone - depends on where we anchor - so there may or may not be updates for a few days.  But we'll be having a blast, no worries!  I love it there.  :)
