Some Days You Just Gotta Take a Break...

So this fall's not gone exactly according to plan ... we thought we'd get the boat in the boatyard, get the bottom done, depthsounder transducer replaced and various other out of the water projects finished, splash before Thanksgiving and be on our way.... BUT Mr Murphy has intervened.  Tomorrow will be soda-blasting day, but today was Sunday and after a couple small projects this morning, we decided to spend the day at the beach!
Picture
David wanted to go to Englewood Beach Park, which is very close to the boatyard because he loves collecting fossilized sharks teeth and everything we've heard is this beach is THE place for sharks teeth.   Except...    I'm allergic to crowds.   So we wandered the beach for almost an hour, found lots of sharks teeth and decided to have our picnic lunch at Stump Pass State Park where hopefully the mass of humanity all looking for sharks teeth will be slightly more spread out....

Ah yes, much better ... except there weren't nearly as many sharks teeth.   And because it's Veteran's Day, everyone got into the State Park for free!  David is a Coast Guard veteran, so I thought it was nice that they let him in free...

The Black Skimmers were out in force, but they weren't after sharks teeth...

This snowy egret seemed happy with his fish, he wasn't looking for sharks teeth either...

So here's the "haul" of fossilized sharks teeth from today's adventure.  Not bad, we got some really really nice ones.   Not as many as some days, but a really good one makes up for 10 "eh" ones!   :)   What a nice break!

Now, after dinner,  David's over at the screened in porch watching football, but it's 40 minutes until Amazing Race, so I hope I can talk some sense into our fellow boatyarders ... I guess it depends on how many are die-hard football types....    See you tomorrow!

Don't you wonder why sharks lose so many teeth? And why do they end up on the beach?

Yeah, and I particularly wonder about those people swimming off the beach where we're finding all the shark's teeth....
