Watchin for Waterspouts....

Here in Marathon tonight we are under a tornado watch?  WHAT?  Someone must be confused, they must not know that tornados do not happen here, they happen in Illinois, not in south Florida.  To my knowledge NO boat in Boot Key Harbor has a basement we can all hide in for a tornado!

All the cruisers are talking about is prepping the boat for the severe storms that are forecast, including potential tornadoes and waterspouts.

So what does Winterlude do?  We prep the boat, take the kayaks down off their racks and tie them off on deck, put extra wraps on the mainsail, lock the roller-furling, double-check the radar one more time and head for WING NIGHT (25 cents) at the Hurricane Grill ... hmmm.. think there might be an omen there?  YIKES!  More bad weather forecast for tomorrow, so maybe we stay on the boat all day?

We did laundry, filled diesel tanks & then re-provisioned this afternoon (before prepping the boat and heading for wings...) so we are still hoping the forecast for Saturday holds at North at 9 and we can sail on down the Keys ... only time will t
